Temporary Print
The Art
A limited-edition print documenting Temporary (2025), Harriet Richardson’s latest uncompromising, durational performance.
The work consists of Richardson tattooing the name of every ex-lover’s mother onto her torso — a list governed by strict rules: it will continue to grow, each new name added the morning after the night before, and no name will ever be repeated, dictating her future partners and reflecting power. Direct, provocative, and rooted in endurance, the piece confronts power: cutting through romantic myth-making to expose the lineage, expectations, and inherited dynamics that shape intimacy long before two people meet. By shifting the focus from the men to the women who raised them, Temporary positions the body as a living record; a boundary, a filter, and a refusal to enter relationships without awareness or accountability.
As featured in Dazed, The Independent and as an article on Harriet’s substack.
